Why not create your own phonics game, teach phonics to someone in your family or pick a digraph and be a detective and find it hidden in piece of text?
Just have fun with it today!

We’ve reached the end of a fun packed week of spellings. It’s time to see how well you have learned your spellings for the week.
Find a grown up to give you a quick spelling test. Let us know on Tapestry what your mark out of ten is – we can’t wait to award Dragon Points for superstar spellers!
Today we are getting creative! Watch the video below with Mrs Harrington who will explain today’s task.
Find some lined paper or print out the sheet shown below to get started on today’s handwriting.
We have been following the lessons on Developing Experts, Living Things and their Habitats this term. Click the link to log in or open the PDF if you are unsure how to do it – it’s such a great resource and your child will be able to follow the videos and answer the quizzes themselves as it’s all there for them to do. As always, contact your class teacher if you are not able to log in. We get to see who has logged in and the amazing work they’ve done 😊

Your Mission today is to learn about the Food Chain! Watch The Experts Video then the Mission Assignment Film. Then SCROLL DOWN: there’s a Rockets Words Quiz, to see if you know the meanings of the words, and an Assessment Quiz to test your knowledge of the lesson! Finally complete the Word Search Game!
Heads Up! Required resources
Download Handout (PDF) - print single sided if you are doing the second task.
Card/paper
scissors
sticky tape
coloured pens/pencils
glue stick
You may prefer to use animal pictures to cut out instead.
Us Teachers have a competition to see which class has the most pupils logging on and who gets the top score! We hope you accept the Mission!
Today we are working on developing our inference and deduction skills. This film (linked below) has no dialogue. Ideally the children will watch the video with an adult or older sibling so that the film can be paused at various points to discuss what is going on. You will need to refer to body language and the surrounding to infer what is going on. This film will encourage lots of language from your child. Click on the link below to get started…..
For today’s reading please login to Oxford Owl using the login details on your individual class pages.

Be a Split Vowel Digraph Detective and write down the words you spot in the videos that have the split vowel digraphs!
We will be moving on to the next set of lessons after half term, so this is your opportunity to make sure you really know to look for these sounds.
Then write sentences using them and send them to your teacher on Tapestry.
Finally, the following PDFs are for you to do if you’re keen to check you do know how to spot a split vowel digraph! They don’t have to be done today, you may want a 5 minute filler next week!

Finally, Log on to Phonics Play: Resources: Phase 5: scroll down to 5c then choose Alternative Spellings for ‘oo’- Phoneme Spotter and Word Sort.

Then complete the following sheets with Compound Words.
See if you can write a sentence that uses two (or more!) compound words!
Remember to use your joined up writing.

Then complete as much of the worksheet as you can.
TT Time – lets see how you get on today. Can you beat your score from yesterday? We bet you can!
Today we are practising our spellings through drawing! Watch the video with Mrs Harrington to find out how. You will need a blank piece of paper for today’s activity.
Today we are heading to our final destination in our journey ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.
For your English task today, you get to choose where your travels take you next and we would like you to write a postcard from there. Again, we would like you to think about what the weather would be like, where you might be sleeping, what you might be eating and something that you have done when you are there. Are there any cultures that you might have experienced, festivals or celebrations that you may have been part of?
If you can’t think of anywhere to go, today we recommend that you head to Japan and experience life at speed!
Have a look at what the Go Jetters saw when they were there:
BBC iPlayer - Go Jetters - Series 2: 14. Bullet Train, Japan
Emerging - Make sure that you have capital letters, full stops and finger spaces in your writing please. Read back over what you have written to make sure it makes sense.
Expected – As Emerging, but how can you make your writing more exciting? Think about what adjectives you could use to describe the things that you are writing about.
Exceeding – As Emerging and Expected, but we would like to think about the tenses used in your writing. If you are describing something that has already happened, it needs to be written in the past tense. If you are writing something that is happening now, you will need to write in the present tense. Finally, if you are writing about something that hasn’t happened yet, you will need to write in the future tense.
This video will help explain in more depth:

For today’s task we would like to you draw pictures of what makes you happy. We have included a sheet below for you to use, but you can easily draw it on plain paper instead.

Today we are using Fortune Tellers to practise our spellings!
Look at the instructions on how to fold your fortune teller. We have included a version with all your spellings already on it if you would like to print it, or you can make your own from blank paper and write your spellings on yourself.
How to play:
-Place both of your thumbs and first fingers inside the bottom pockets of the teller. Present the fortune teller to your friend and tell them you will help them with their spellings!
-Ask your friend to pick a spelling from the top of the fortune teller.
-Spell out the chosen word while opening and closing the teller. So, if they pick ‘fast’, you say “F-A-S-T” and work it four times, once for each letter.
Keep the teller open and have your friend picks a different word from the inner flaps. -Work it back and forth that many times.
-Then have them pick one last word and repeat as before.
-This time ask them to choose a word and then open the flap of the word they have chosen.
-The word that is revealed can be written down 3 times!
Repeat as many times as you like!
