Today we are learning to read and write the split digraph – u_e.
Watch the video below with Mr Thorne:
Now watch the video below with Mrs Harrington to practise writing some words with u_e in them.
Now have a go at filling in the u_e booklet below. You might want to fill it in over a few days to keep practising the u_e sound!
Start by practising your Phase 5 phonemes by singing along to the song below.
Today we are continuing to learn different ways to spell the ‘ow’ phoneme. You will need a copy of the words you wrote yesterday so make sure you have them to hand. Watch the video below with Mrs Harrington and have a go at completing the sheet as you go.
After the video and your 1st task have a go at the writing task ALL BY YOURSELF! We know you can do it!
Start by watching the Expected videos and completing the tasks set.
Now watch Mrs Harrington’s video where she talks you through your dictation sentences for today.
Follow the videos with Miss Baines to continue learning about the equivalence of half and quarters. It would be useful to have some paper, something to colour with and 12 objects to help you work out the questions.
Then complete the worksheet for Questions 5 to 8 for today (We did Q 1-4 yesterday)
If you did all 8 questions yesterday, then do the CHALLENGE sheet for today.
There are different types of games to play.
At this stage, as you’re learning your times tables, then stick to the Single Player Games in The Garage.
The chart will explain the difference between the different games.
Good Luck!
If TTRS isn’t for you just yet, have a look on YouTube for one that you like!
Try this for starters:
We’ve reached the end of a fun packed week of spellings. It’s time to see how well you have learned your spellings for the week.
Find a grown up to give you a quick spelling test. Let us know on Tapestry what your mark out of ten is – we can’t wait to award Dragon Points for superstar spellers!
Today we are continuing our journey ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.
For your English task today, you get to choose where your travels take you next and we would like you to write a postcard from there. Again, we would like you to think about what the weather would be like, where you might be sleeping, what you might be eating and something that you have done when you are there. Are there any cultures that you might have experienced, festivals or celebrations that you may have been part of?
If you can’t think of anywhere to go, we highly recommend that you head to South America and visit the Amazon Rainforest.
Have a look at what the Go Jetters saw when they were there:
BBC iPlayer - Go Jetters - Series 1: 19. Amazon Rainforest, South America
Please see Mrs Darroch’s example from yesterday to give you an idea of what we would like to see in your writing.
Emerging - Make sure that you have capital letters, full stops and finger spaces in your writing please. Read back over what you have written to make sure it makes sense.
Expected – As Emerging, but how can you make your writing more exciting? Think about what adjectives you could use to describe the things that you are writing about.
Exceeding – As Emerging and Expected, but we would like to think about the tenses used in your writing. If you are describing something that has already happened, it needs to be written in the past tense. If you are writing something that is happening now, you will need to write in the present tense. Finally, if you are writing about something that hasn’t happened yet, you will need to write in the future tense.
This video will help explain in more depth:

Everyone has to start somewhere!
Learners play in the Garage or the Arena and begin with the first set of questions (1x10 up to 4x10). When they can answer at a rate of 20 per minute, the next set of questions are introduced.

Today is National Time to Talk Day.
What is Time to Talk Day 2021?
Time to Talk Day is taking place this year on February 4th. Its aim is to get people to choose to talk about mental health and by doing so help change lives.
It’s a chance for all of us to open up to mental health — to talk, to listen, to change lives. This year's theme is 'the Power of Small' because a small conversation about mental health has the power to make a big difference.
Mental Health affects one in four of us and is a very serious issue that needs to be spoken about more often. It's a common problem, yet is still an isolated one, and people can start to feel ashamed or worthless because of it.
Time to Talk Day is on a mission to change this and encourage every single person to be more open about the topic of mental health. Talk; listen; change lives.
Have a go at completing the document below over the next few days. It’s a great way to think about how you are feeling and to help you realise all the fabulous things you are good at!
As you may have heard, Captain Tom Moore has sadly died this week. He achieved so many great things in his life and we wou ld like to find out more about him so we can celebrate his achievements in our Celebration Live this afternoon at 2pm.
Please look through the documents below with a grown up and talk about the questions asked.
Once you have done this we would love it if you could colour in one of the pictures below and send it to us on Tapestry so we can create a Captain Tom Moore Tribute slideshow.
Bring your pictures to the Celebration Live at 2pm to share with your friends!
Please select your level of guided reading level in line with the phonics level that you are working at.

You choose, you can be as creative as you like!
