Today we look at another person that we may have found within a castle. Arguably one of the most important people to live within a castle........Knights!
Emerging: Watch video 1 and complete the note taking activity. Use your sound mats to help you.
Expected: As emerging, then watch video 2 and complete the letter to the National Knights Organisation.
Exceeding: As expected, then once you have finished go back through your writing and edit it. Have you included finger spaces? Capital letters? Full stops? Adjectives?
Handwriting
Using this weeks spellings, practice writing them (with the correct letter formation) onto rolled out playdough. Use a pencil or the end of a thin paintbrush.

Reading
As the weather forecast looks sunny today we would like you to take a book outside. You could take it in the garden, just on your door step or on your daily walk. Whilst outside read your chosen book. Make sure your adult gets a snap of you doing this and sends it into Tapestry. The year 1 teachers will be joining in also and uploading their photo onto Tapestry for you to see!

Today we will continue to look at people who lived in a castle. Watch Mrs Whites videos to learn about jesters and create a job advert for a jester for Lady Woodlands Castle.
Emerging- draw a colourful picture of a jester and label it with words to describe him. E. G. Funny.
Expected-complete the job advert for the jester. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Exceeding-complete the job advert for the jester but use a thesaurus to find better words to use. E. G. Hilarious rather than funny. Make your work better!
Phonics
Emerging: Have fun joining in with Mrs White’s video and activities today. If you want a challenge have a go at the expected video too!
Expected : Join Miss Streeton to read some high frequency words today. Mr Monster even comes to help!

Spellings
Go back to Mrs White's video for your spellings and have another go at spelling the words. You can do this each day and then have a spelling quiz on Friday!
Maths
Today we are going to be learning about fact families. Watch Miss Carey-Smith’s video to find out more!
Emerging: can you write the addition and subtraction facts for the numbers 3 7 and 10? You can use groups of objects to arrange, just like Miss Carey-Smith or make number cards too.
Expected: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/number-facts/number-fact-families follow the link to explore different fact families of numbers up to 20, or 50 if you’re feeling like you would like a challenge! Select addition and subtraction and then select up to 20.
Exceeding: complete the mastery challenge below.
Art- Today you will be drawing a landscape. This means you will need to go for a walk and take some pictures to bring home and draw (or you can get out in the garden). Watch Miss Streeton’s videos and then have a go at drawing and painting your own pictures. If you don’t have paint you can use colouring pencils, charcoal or chalks instead. Remember art is about the process, not the finished picture. Have fun!
Reading
Today you will need to read either the Emerging (Phase 2), Expected (Phase 4) or Exceeding (Phase 5) quick read and answer the questions. If you complete one, why not try another!
Handwriting
Today for handwriting have a go at choosing a Lady or Lord name and writing it in your best handwriting. What could your Lord or Lady name be? Lord Dave of Candy Land, Lady Elsa of Arundel for example. You could even make a scroll!

This week we are going to carry on our learning all about Castles! Today we will be looking at some places/rooms inside the castle. In the first video you will find out some information about these places/rooms. Watch video 1 and then watch video 2 to see what your task is!
Emerging: Draw a picture of one of the rooms inside a castle and label it.
Expected: Write a fact sheet about one place/room inside the castle. You are expected to write THREE sentences.
Exceeding: Write a fact sheet about two places/rooms inside the castle. You are expected to write THREE sentences for each one. Use adjectives to make your writing more interesting!

Last day of our booklets today! We are writing about our favourite part of the castle. Choose your favourite part and the watch Miss Streeton’s video.
Emerging: Complete the Purple Mash activity set for today – Use your sound mats to help!
Expected: Write the last part of your booklet. Make sure you use because in your sentence.
Exceeding: Write the last part of your booklet INDEPENDENTLY. That means no help today. Make sure you use because in your sentence. You also need to sound out each word carefully and think about using the spellings you have learn so far this half term (ar and igh). We need a grown up to be able to read your sentence today once you have written it.
Maths
Today we will be using our number bonds to solve addition number sentences. This will also develop the skill of counting on to add which you have been practising.

Emerging: Draw a picture of your pet or a pet you would like and label the picture with some things it will need, such as ‘dog, ball, bed’.
Expected/Exceeding: Watch Miss Carey-Smith’s video about how to make your poster. Use your phonics and spellings! Write 2 sentences to explain how to care for your pet.
Challenge: Can you make some dog biscuits? Watch Miss Streeton’s video and see what Rossi and Alfie thought of the biscuits!

Emerging: Join Miss Streeton to practise sounding out words with the ‘sh’ sound in them. You will need a couple of things to join in so watch the first part, pause the video to get what you need and then carry on watching.
Expected: - Join in with Miss Carey-Smith in an activity exploring alternative pronunciations of the 'u' grapheme.
Exceeding: Watch the expected video for today. Then you need to write some sentences using the words in the video. Make a list of words as you watch the video so that you have a word bank to help you write your sentences.
