Topic information
On the Move
This half term we will be exploring the topic 'On the Move' We will be looking at a range of texts about different types of transport and journeys. We will be reading Naughty Bus, finding out about different emergency vehicles and looking at larger machines. We will be creating our own non fiction books and writing stories, re-telling stories and using role-play to explore. We have lots of opportunities for exploring outside, and we will use our senses to make discoveries in our outside world. We will be looking at seasonal changes as they occur, and carrying out a traffic survey from Forest School and thinking about the effect traffic has on our environment. We are so excited for this half term and can't wait for all adventures!
Please read our year group newsletter for more information!

Entry and Pick up time changes
Reception will be coming in between 8:50 and 9:00 - Gates will close at 9am
Rabbits will be picked up in our normal place at 3:05 - please pick up on time as Years 1 and 2 follow on from us.
We will continue to have P.E. on a Wednesday morning. Please come to school in your P.E kit on this day and ensure hair is tied up and earrings are removed.
We will also continue to explore the forest school area in our 'Muddy Monday' sessions, engaging with our natural environment. Please bring a pair of wellies in a carrier bag to school on this day, it is best that the children do not wear them all day. Children will need weather appropriate clothes (raincoats, sunhats, winter coats etc). We will go outside whatever the weather!
Reading is so important and you should try to read every day with your child. Sharing bedtime stories, reading comics, subtitles on the TV, reading the books we send home and accessing Bug Club online - login details are in your child's reading records. Reread the books on there as this will help to develop your child's confidence and fluency.
We will be changing reading books on Monday and a Friday. Please send your reading records in every day as we will be hearing them read during the week. Last term the majority of children in Rabbits appear to not be reading at home - I appreciate this is difficult when they are learning to read but it is important that you share the books - the more they read a text the more confident they become and fluency develops. You can make a huge difference to your child's reading skills and knowledge, use of phonics, learning key words and love of stories. Reading is important to every subject that they will be taught in their education.
Home time challenges will be set on a Friday to be completed by the following Friday. Please check our home time challenge section for more information.
