Remote Learning in Lockdown
Bringing learning to your home.
Dear Family,
Your child's class teacher will put daily learning on the class pages on the website. A link will be will be sent out via school ping daily, by your class teacher for easy access to the right place on the website.
It is critical that all parents access school ping daily to keep up to date with communication from school.
The teachers will be modelling on videos and provided links that help teach your child. We have had lovely feedback about the use of videoing to support your child with their learning. The teachers remain contactable by email. Easy email contact remains on the class pages, they are happy to support you with your child’s learning or queries. We understand that you may need support adapting the learning for your child and we help.
Please remember that every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 has been given a work book Letts ‘Make it Easy Maths and English’ and pack of useful resources to support learning at home.
Phonics
As you will see on the website we have some different videos and activities for phonics. These are labelled as emerging, expected and exceeding. At school when we teach phonics we differentiate tasks in these three ways so that all children can be taught at a level that is appropriate.
Emerging- These activities will be covering learning that has already taken place and needs to be recapped.
Expected- These activities will be covering the learning that has been planned and is expected at this stage in the year
Exceeding- These activities will challenge those children that have a greater depth of understanding in phonics
Your class teacher will inform you which activities your child should be accessing. We always encourage children to challenge themselves in their learning so if you want to access all activities that is absolutely fine.
The school is working with the DfE around the possibility of laptops to students where access to devices is limited. However, you can access the learning on a variety of devices for example, mobile phones, tablets, PC and laptops but access can also be obtained by some game’s consoles. See advice below:

Parent to teacher contact
We are currently re-establishing Tapestry for all year groups- your logins will follow shortly. We do expect to receive learning photos or videos weekly. This can be sent via Tapestry or email until this is set up. Teachers will be monitoring contact to ensure that children are accessing learning. This also gives us a chance to know that you are all safe and well. If we haven’t heard from you we will be in contact as a welfare check.
Teachers are always happy to communicate via email for any direct queries. We are all very keen to keep your child learning and making progress.
If you have any other queries or would like to contact me please email me through the admin@stgeorges-inf.essex.sch.uk or call the office directly on 01206578080
We are very appreciative of your feedback and making sure that we can provide the best provision that we can. We hope you are all keeping safe and are enjoying the remote learning available.
We will continue to work together. Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend.
