Children should be able to access a range of maths based activities throughout the day through continuous provision. Adults in the room will engage with the children as appropriate to move the learning forward.
In Reception, a Maths session will start with a teacher led input. This will be a time when new concepts can be introduced, use of resources can be modelled and misconceptions from previous learning can be addressed.
Children will then ‘get busy’ with a variety of cross curricular activities. However, during this time there will be a Maths focus to the session. This means that the supervising adults will be encouraging and supporting the children to access the Maths supervision.
