Today we are completing out story maps! Watch the videos from Miss Streeton to finish the last part.
Emerging: Complete your story map and focus on using as many sounds as you can in your labels. Use your sound mat to support.
Expected: Complete your story map and focus on using as many of the spellings and alternative pronunciations (we have learnt) as you can in your labels. Use your sound mat to support.
Exceeding: As expected but also go back with your different colour pen and add more detail. See if you can use split digraphs (a_e e_e i_e o_e u_e) in your labels.

Emerging: Today we are recapping the 'igh' trigraph . See below for the resources you need for this activity.
Expected: Today we are practising the alternative spellings for ‘ai’ that you have learnt earlier in the week. Have a pen and paper ready and Miss Carey-Smith will read out some words for you to sound out and spell in the video below. Words: make clay snail eight grey date tray
We are still comparing today and we are going to be comparing height. Watch the White Rose video and complete the tasks throughout. (see screen shots below).

Watch Orlando Bloom read a story all about dreams. After the story can you tell a family member about a dream you had? Was it like any of the dreams in the story?
Thursday 4th February
Today we are going to focus on comparing lengths. Watch the video and complete the activities set. Remember to pause at any time if you need to.
Challenge: Draw around your own hand and the hand of someone else in your house. Cut them out and compare them. Mrs White has completed this activity below (see pictures).
Now find other things around your house to compare using the words, longer and shorter. Write a sentences for each pair of objects using the comparison vocabulary.
We are carrying on with our story maps today. Watch the videos to see Miss Streeton do the next part of her story map. Re-cap the story first so you know what is going to happen next. Remember to use your sound mat to help you write the words.
Exceeding: Add your describing words onto your story map like you did yesterday.
Emerging: Today you are recapping the…….sound with Miss Streeton. See the picture for the resources you need to make the game to play at home.
Expected: Watch Miss Carey-Smith's video on the alternative spellings for 'c'. Afterwards have a go at sorting some words into the correct spelling for the 'c' sound: cat, cake, queen, quiet, king, kit, school, sock, pick, fox, box.

We just want to start Wednesday off by saying a HUGE Well Done to our Year 1 children for working so hard on their remote learning! We know it's been a new adjustment but you have all made us so proud!
Let's start the day with some movement - Try this Cosmic Kids Yoga session!
Children, you can take part in this independently. Ask your adult to set it up on the screen and then off you go!

Today we start our new unit on Length and Height. Watch Maths with Mrs White and use the vocabulary to compare the sizes of different objects/toys. Send in a video of you doing this on Tapestry.

You are going to be making a ‘Happy Wesak’ card today! Watch Miss Carey-Smith’s video to hear about and discuss some of the main symbols of the celebration so you have some ideas for what to put on the front of your card.
We start a new topic within Maths today and this means that we need to carry out a pre-assessment quiz for the topic Length and Height.
Please watch the video with Mrs White and complete the quiz. This must then be uploaded to Tapestry. We have set the children a measuring game on their 2DO on Purple Mash, have a go!
Emerging: Read some words with qu and th sounds today with Miss Streeton. We will be looking closely for the split digraphs in words and practising blending the sounds in words.
Expected: Watch Miss Carey-Smith's video. Today we are moving onto alternative spellings! You will be learning about all of the alternative spellings for the ai grapheme. This week we are going to start planning our story. Today you need to listen to the story and get to know what happens! This is important so we can use it for our story maps. You can watch Miss Streeton reading the book, look through the book with Miss Streeton and watch the cartoon on YouTube.

Your spellings this week focus on adding the suffix's -er and -est. These go on the end of a word.

Today we will be taking part in an end of unit assessment. The children have done many of these before so will be familiar with them. It is important that the children complete these and they are sent into your class teacher via Tapestry. They allow us to gauge the children's knowledge and understanding of this topic before we move onto the next unit. Watch Mrs White's video and complete it using her instructions.
Handwriting: Choose some of the letters you find hardest to form correctly. You can practise your letter formation in any way that you would like! You could practise with chalk outside, pour some salt into a tray and use your finger or you can use coloured pens and paper if you would prefer!
